Swamp Stomp
These four surprisingly nimble blokes from the back blocks perform a distinctly Waikato rural dance style, following in the long tradition of Gumboot Dancing which simultaneously emerged in all the boggy regions of the world. Their charming performances involve rhythmic, synchronized, and percussive dancing, interspersed with hard-case static 'human monuments' on a rural theme.
If Fred Dagg had been a dancer, he would inevitably have joined Swamp Stomp.

Dr. Hapuka's Amazing Whirlygig
Local eccentric and self-styled music expert Dr Hapuka makes a meagre living on the side, selling stuff from his home made Whirligig. An elaborate kinetic sculpture constructed on a still rideable bicycle, the Whirligig also doubles as a mobile hawkers office from which Dr Hapuka sings his never ending sales patter, to backing music. But what exactly is it that he has for sale? No one's actually ever seen him sell anything, but this apparent lack of success doesn't seem to dampen his enthusiasm. |
